The winecellar was created on the initiative of various farmers who made wine with the grapes grown on their potato farms. The original results were artisanal and destined for sale by the litre. For that reason, they felt the urge to unite as a cooperative, to make wine and start bottling it under the Regulatory Council of Abona label, with the minimum quality controls demanded by the market. In this way, the wine cellar became the first regional winery on the island.
The wine cellar is perfectly adapted to new oenological trends, and guarantees the best organoleptic properties of its wines and, moreover, the correct health and hygiene conditions. It is currently in the process of obtaining the ISO 22000 certification, which specifies the requirements for safe food management systems.
