In 1992, the San Miguel Cooperative started to package bananas at its installations within the the Coplaca producers organization.
The fruit comes from the south and southwestern zones of the island of Tenerife. The farms are spread through the municipalities of Güímar, Arico, Granadilla de Abona, San Miguel de Abona, Arona, Adeje and Guía de Isora.
The packaging process complies with UNEGAP (Spanish Fruit and Vegetable Certification Scheme) and Integrated Production norms, guaranteeing the healthiness and safety of all the fruit packaged. 85% of the growing land for the packaged bananas is also certified by both quality norms, thereby forming the perfect tandem between sustainability and development..
